Storage becomes a premium in these Vans, so there are adjustable load bars that are available such as the ones in the first post...problem is where do you put them when the top comes down.
A 2” round dowel (cut to fit - about an inch longer than needed so it takes some weight off the cross bars while in the up position) placed in each corner can easily be stored laying down on the ledge - so when the top comes down the canvas and windows fold right over them. With the larger square/rectangular feet (with the sharp corners) on the load bars you take the chance of wear (and over time, tears) developing on the canvas (assuming there is even enough room for them).
I put rubber furniture feet on each end of my dowels, and used a closet rod holder on the roof that the dowels slide into to keep them from moving (these holders are screwed in so they won’t/ don’t move)

You can buy these at Lowes and Home Depot. The are meant as a door security device, and the other end is suppose to have a Y shape bracket that fits under a door handle; used instead of wedging a chair under the door handle.

I do the same but used 3/4 round aluminum tubing with rubber end caps.
