4x4 Quigley Shifter

So I figured out today that beer tap handles fit nicely. Kinda redneck but fun none the less.

Haha it's not my cup o tea, but it is entertaining and unique.

On a similar note, anyone know off hand what thread/pitch Quigley used? I'm interested in finding a new handle too and I'll be buying online (no test fit in the parking lot).

I'm going to turn a new one on my lathe in the next few days. Im not sure of the wood I'm going to use though. Thinking about Purple Heart but that stuff is a real pain in the ass to work.

Re: 4x4 Quigley Shifter

I tried to remove mine when I got my van to paint the post and I couldn't get it loose. I ended up removing the whole thing from the linkage below. Did yours just spin off? Mine wouldn't budge and I figured it must've been pressed on.

Re: 4x4 Quigley Shifter

I just tried mine. Tried spinning it by hand and it was really stubborn so I grabbed some channel-locks and it popped free, but I think it was glued. Now it's stripped (spins freely) but it still won't come off at all. Maybe I'll just get out the Dremel and cut it off and see what the shaft actually looks like.

Re: 4x4 Quigley Shifter

Just cut it off and rethread it. I always thought one of those crystal balls at the top of a cane would be a funny shift handle. http://www.frankelcostume.com/diamond-pimp-cane.html

Re: 4x4 Quigley Shifter

I have a shift knob on my Bronco 5 speed trans from this place. Fits my hand great.
