I agree, not ideal as a good spot for the antenna nevermind the mount.
In addition, I don't know what kind of antenna you have but you've gotta be concerned about whip action as well. It's gonna be bashing the side of your van.
And my mag mount moved a bit even on top. And the whipping action of the Firestick eventually broke the mount and it went flying away.
And then there's cabling. I suppose you could run it through the rear door at the edge; note the one you picture is not only committed by bolts but by a cable run through the body.
Firestik makes a bazillion mounts; you might try something like the trunk lip mount or other clamp on, and find a better place. I ended up with mine next to where the AM radio antenna was. Easy to run cable from there into the cab.
BTW, I use a similar Firestik stud mount for 2 meter with either a Firestik 2 meter antenna, or a smaller dual band, both with stud mounts. And I store them inside for heavy brush.
