The hole in the floor is easy! It is the cutting out of the spare tire X Frame mount that is messy!

See 86scotty’s Post#8 in the link. - CLASSIC!!

Luckily for me the previous owner did the U-Joint Off Road conversion & skid plate when he moved the spare tire to the rear bumper carrier.

Hi going back to the original question, I have this setup on my 2005 RB 4x4 V 10 which was installed by the original owner (I'm the 3rd owner). It seems to work well, I've had no issues and I also have a larger box on mine but not the tall one.

Hey, RG, I’m glad to hear that. There seems to be a lot of variance in experiences.

As to my experiment (above post), I rode around last night with the latch mechanism zip-tied so it couldn’t move back and forth. Whaddya know? It was the quietest ride I’ve had since I bought the tire arm. So, to be clear: in my case, the rattling was coming from the latch. I’ll run with a zip tie for a bit but all ideas are welcome for a more permanent solution. And maybe I’ll contact Aluminess, too, to see if they’ve come up with something.

LOL! Totally understandable! You can see from my post that I’m lucky enough to live an hour and a half away from the man himself and, though he doesn’t normally do installs, I’m sure he sensed my desperation and was kind enough to spend the better part of a day installing it for me. I can only hope that I compensated him anywhere near enough. He was so dedicated to the job that his poor wife was literally holding open the family car door for a family social dinner commitment as he wrenched the last bolt onto my van. He didn’t even get to shower.
