Aluminess Deluxe Box Install? Easy?

I am swapping out an Aluminess Galley Box for the Deluxe. Has anyone attempted to install one of these themselves? Straightforward?

Anyone interested in a Galley box in the near future?

Thanks!

Thanks! With the vendor promo, it's quite a bit cheaper to just have them ship it to Colorado vs a side trip down to San Diego to have it installed.

Re: Aluminess Deluxe Box Install? Easy?

If you have an older two arm swingarm (Galley/Generator box), can you upgrade to a newer three arm box (Deluxe box)?

Or, do you just swap the box itself, and leave the arm structure alone? My concern is that a bigger box means more stuff which means more weight, and that starts to concern me with the two arm support structure.

Re: Aluminess Deluxe Box Install? Easy?

That's a valid issue Herb and Aluminess suggested not to overload it. I had 4 hinges put on, but if you figure your only going to carry the weight of 4 jerry cans full of fuel or water, it should be OK. I would suggest purchasing the kit they sell to upgrade the hinge bolts plus the bumper blocks they install if they sell those. Or do it yourself like Mike did.

Aluminess boxes not eligible for the vendor promo. Apparently too little of a margin.

Bummer.

Yeah, I just reread that:
"This offer applies on the purchase of bumpers, roof racks, tire racks, ladders and nerf bars, and is not good with other offers."

Boxes not mentioned. Too bad, I didn't realize they were excluded.

Re: Aluminess Deluxe Box Install? Easy?

Still cheaper to have the ship the box to Colorado rather than drive down to San Diego and pay the CA sales tax. I think I'll beef up the latches and add the stops while I'm at it.
