Aluminess Penthouse Top Lift

Has anyone used one? Pros? Cons? I'm finally too old to muscle the top up. SMB wants $3500 to retrofit their electric lift...

Have a pic of a "aluminess penthouse top lift". Their site gives a price for a large and a small but no pic of what they are selling.

Re: Aluminess Penthouse Top Lift

I looked at the lift at the Northwest Overland Rally and it was very nice. I will be purchasing one soon. The lift fits nicely between the upper bed supports, just strap it in place.
It also worked well with a basic cigarette lighter tire pump.

The Aluminess owner showed me how it worked and where it stowed away.

Hope this helps
Justin

Re: Aluminess Penthouse Top Lift

Three different types of lifts have been referenced in this thread so far. One is the SMB built in electric top lift that you must spec at time of build. One is an electric motor powered jack that lifts a manually operated top for you. The other is the air cylinder powered jack that does the same thing. I have the air powered one. Works well.

Exactly the feedback I needed...thank you all. I also will adjust the springs which I haven't done in 5/6 years.

Re: Aluminess Penthouse Top Lift

We use a manual cargo bar to raise the top. About $30 at your local auto parts store. Works great.

Anyone looking for one of these (Aluminess Penthouse Top Lift) Selling mine that I purchased from Aluminess approximately 1 year ago. Works well and easy to use. Not sure how to attach a photos, however pics of lift are in my album.

Aluminess selling new for $500 - pick this one up for $400 (can ship or pick up in So Cal).

Send me a PM with an E-Mail address or cell number and i'll send a video showing how it works.
