Re: Camp table

We use one similar to Jage. A compact aluminum one. Got it at Target for I think $30 at end of summer.

Like it being all metal for our dutch ovens.

Did I say thanks yet?

For the price I wish this was a little better of a table, but beggars can't be choosers.

Warped board- I can restring and flip or use some of my old top.

String is a bit loose, I won't be surprised if it doesn't last. Easy fix while I'm replacing that board.

The worst part, not directly compatible with my old version. The old was all one piece, the arms folded out. This, the arms are separate and snap into place. The hardware is different , about 5x more difficult to put together. And it rattles when packed (for you noise hounds)...

Still, this is so close to exactly what I was looking for I'm very happy to have it! If they weren't so pricy I'd buy a spare.

Re: Camp table

Years ago we used to use these tables made from one sheet of plywood.

Lots of plans and pictures on line.

Re: Camp table

Thanks for all the tips. The roll top style with adjustable legs looks like a great idea.

Ordered an aluminum roll top table for $40 from Wal-mart. Will post back with a review after we play with it.

Re: Camp table

The adjustable legs will come in handy when you use it inside the van. I've never seen one with adjustable legs like that.

Re: Camp table

The first one I bought was perfect, nice wood and tight strings. I bought a second and it was not as nice as the first one. The third was somewhere in between. I initially disliked the seperate top support bars but I noticed on my old one piece Wal-mart table the top support was longer than the legs and got slightly bent from poking out of the bag.

Mine came with a second bag for the top. I put the two top support poles in the small bag on opposite sides of the wood to keep rattling to a minimum. The plastic clips for the top bars look to be the weak point. I mangled one so now I always put the base in the bag top first so the clips don't stick out and get damaged.

Are you going to paint it? I have been wanting to paint the top to improve moisture and BBQ grime resistance but I guess I would rather be camping instead of waiting for paint to dry.

Re: Camp table

We tested out the Rokk table. Works and fits well. Here's the review: http://www.advanturetrek.com/2012/03/gear-reviews/

I have one very similar to that table but it's 2 to 3 times larger. I bought it at Bass Pro but am unable to find it anymore. I ditched the under table mesh section. I found it to be more of a hassle than a valuable storage compartment. I love the table. I can set my gas BBQ (which gets quite hot under it) on the table along with a 1 gal propane tank and still have enough room for two place settings to eat.

Re: Camp table

I found a couple of new tables. I want to get away from any bungi cord stuff.

Looks like these will save me some space and I can still set up a BBQ on it w/o worry of damage.
