Car Stereo Installation in Los Angeles

Hello!

anyone here have great experiences with a stereo install company here in (westside) LA?

i'm worried a low-tiered shop would mess up my electrical system by not wiring the stereo correctly to the power setup in order to make proper use of the VAN BATTERY switch.

also, anyone install the latest KENWOOD DNX deck? (the 8120?)
the websites say it wont fit in a 2003 Ford e350

thanks

I am in the westside and had a couple bad experiences with Al&Ed's. Wherever you go, I suggest staying away from them.

If you find a good place I would be interested too. I have been holding off since.

The battery switch isn't that big of deal. It's just a normal old switch and a wire. The indicator light (for those who have them) was an add on because people were leaving the switch on unaware- but the switch is just a regular old rocker. Should be easy for any place that understands (+) and (-).

Not LA area.. but worth the drive.... i take my stuff to Pacific Audio. They do magazine work and high end diesel performance (PPE). They've been in business for years and are not a fly by night type of place.

Anyways, they're not the cheapest and usually super busy.. but they great work on RV's, boats, custom setups and of course the SMB's.

They just installed a head unit in out rig a few months ago and did a great job. It was a piece of cake for them.

I agree with not going to AL and ED's. The stereo we replaced was installed by those Yahoo's and the job was done so bad, i have Pacific clean it back up.

There's a place on Robertson just north of Venice where you get on the 10 West. I can't remember their name. They've been there for decades.

How many 4x4 vans are there on the westside of LA? I'm in Culver City.

most definitely NOT going to take it to Al and Ed, Best Buy, or any other conglomerate. i want it done right!

i'll look at Pacific Audio (even tho it's really far from Venice Beach). thanks for that lead!

and j.whitebread: i'm not sure how many SMBs are on the westside. CellularSteve is the only regular on this site. And we do see a nice guy in a tan-ish SMB at the beach every friday.

I am in Santa Monica.

FamVan5 is in culver city.

There is one a block from me but I never see the owner. There is another guy I run into once in awhile in SM.

There are at least 2 others in Venice, but not on our forum.

I guess I am an SMB geek.

Re: Car Stereo Installation in Los Angeles

I am in Hollywood, but I'm born and raised in Santa Monica. I spend a lot of time on the westside. I spend a lot of time on PCH between El Porto and Ventura too.
