Re: Deep water fording

I would have to guess that the heater would be easily flooded and possibly ruined without immediate maintenance. The refridgerators are mostly not vented because they don't use the 3-way, but there are so many holes cut in the SMBs (not to mention the door seals don't even keep out the dust) that you're going to be taking on water, soaking insulation and ruining carpet and paneling long before reaching the heater vent.

I think it's a moot point because I doubt many would intentionally take such an expensive vehicle beyond step rails deep in water in the first place.

Yeah, that's exactly why I changed it to "I doubt many" instead of "no one would ever"... however, he is only about step rails deep in that photo.

Not sure about perimeter seals and waterproofing, but I hear these guys are good for keeping your engine running

Re: Deep water fording

I'd be suprised if they made one for the van. No matter, all you really need is some PVC and a random K&N:

Re: Deep water fording

My differential vents are high but running a hot pumpkin in ice cold water aint good anyway so I sweat a bit even if the water is at the running boards level. I also have to worry about the filter for my extreme air and lower power outlets. I have to make sure the Starcool is not running as a precaution as the fan also hangs kind of low. But it sure looks cool going through a stream

Re: Deep water fording

Considering how much stuff Sportsmobile puts under the rigs, I don't imagine submerging them for long would be a good idea.

Here in Iceland i have to consider depp water for crossing big rivers , i had water upp to the front window of my Suburban on 44" tires once but no water inside the car, so i have to consider how to not get the water in vents, and my fridge runs 12v 220v and propane so it have vents and i loking for the best solution for deep water fording
