Dometic CFX3 Reliability

Hello everyone,

I'm looking to see if anyone on this forum has owned a fridge from Dometic's CFX3 lineup for a couple years now and could comment on its reliability. I'm looking to pick one up during REI's current sale, but I'm a little hesitant based on some comments I've seen over on ExPo.

It seems like a lot of people are unhappy about the fact that you can't have the CFX3 line of fridges plugged into both AC and DC power at the same time. Apparently their previous fridges could automatically switch between power sources, but the new ones will allow 120V AC to bleed over to the DC side. Sounds sketchy, but I'm pretty sure we'd be running ours exclusively on 12V DC so not a big deal.

The thing I'm more concerned about is some of the electronics and compressor related failures people have written about, but I'm not sure if this is a case of the unhappy customers being the loudest, or if it's truly representative of the quality of Dometic's latest lineup.

I know people are fans of ARB/Engel/National Luna chest fridges, but if Dometic is good enough and I can save a couple hundred bucks I figure why not.
