Extreme Magnum Air Compressor Troubleshooting
So, I got off the beach last Wed, and remembered the key to the bumper with the air compressor fitting. Aired up three tires no problem, then the compressor stopped. I just went ahead and filled it with the air up stations and drove back home.
I did the troubleshooting Sunday, which was good, because now I know how the system is installed and traced every cable. Needless to say, it was the breaker, which was the last thing I checked/found, but it took me awhile to trace it back to the passenger floorboard, which isn't intuitive since you want the unprotected run of cable as short as possible, hence close to the battery.
Anyways, so what actually happened. The breaker tripped, I closed it, and found that the 2 gal air receiver drain was open so closed that too. I didn't try airing up all four tires, but ran the compressor and it charged the receiver to pressure then cut off. So I think it's working properly but still not sure why it tripped the breaker. Overheating? Too much pressure loss with the drain open? Running for that long drained the battery (the motor was running) dropping the voltage and in turn pulled too much current tripping the breaker?
Appreciate any experience with this compressor, insight, or ideas.
Cheers,
Ryan
