Fire Extinguishers

Does anyone have a good example of fire extinguisher mounting in their SMB?

No pic, but mine came with an extinguisher mounted behind the passenger side captain's chair. It is attached to the frame, at floor level. I've also got another extinguisher in a storage cabinet by the rear doors.

Re: Fire Extinguishers

Ill try and take some pics this weekend when I get home but I have one in the drivers space, one in the cabin just inside the side door and one just inside the rear door at the back. Auto extinguishers are small so more the better

Re: Fire Extinguishers

I, also, have the stock SMB extinguisher behind the pax seat, but I'm loath to use it on my own vehicle because of the INCREDIBLE mess that type makes. So, I also installed a much larger Halotron extinguisher just inboard of the pax seat. They are pretty expensive, but then, the van cost upwards of a hundred grand so a couple hundred bucks could be considered a bargain...

Good point. Food for thought:

The rollover situation I saw yesterday made me realize that having an extinguisher is probably more likely to be useful for others. Also, the fire started on the bottom of the car from the fluids leaking on all the hot stuff under the car. So, the mess was really no big deal. In this particular case the car was already totaled, so really the only thing being saved was whatever she had left inside when she climbed out.

Of course if you are cooking food in the van, different story. Well, depending on your culinary skills of course...

Re: Fire Extinguishers

I am thinking of this too...

Also the point that when camping with gas cookers, and other potentially pyrotechnic appliances I was thinking of having a extinguisher near the drivers end of the van and one at the rear where I could catch it in case of a camp-site fire...
