Re: Fishing Pole Carrier or Holder
This is how I set up my fishing rods.
You might try this it fits on the end of standard 3" ABS pipe but I don't know if it locks. LINK http://store.theflyshop.com/catalog/pro ... ts_id=3744
I also know of one that is for two fly rods and it locks, but it is pretty expensive. I will try and find the website.

Re: Fishing Pole Carrier or Holder
Thanks Chris. very similar.
Although I am not sure that 3inch pipe would be big enough if I am carrying multiple rods and reels.
...and now you have me wondering what sizes black ABS comes in...

Re: Fishing Pole Carrier or Holder
Black ABS (waste pipe) comes in all different sizes. There is a glue on theaded cap that you can buy and maybe drill a hole thru and put a padlock on it. I have not tried it though.

Re: Fishing Pole Carrier or Holder
Greg,
Check with American Van for the sizes of the Aluminum Locking Hatch Covers available , I seem to remember that you might have some options available . Chris/Peabugs is that a Rodbunk Deluxe carrier that you have in your Van ? If so I know the Genius that designed it many years ago , very useful .

Re: Fishing Pole Carrier or Holder
We have them to hold hot sticks but they are expenseve. AB Chance and Hastings make them. Tackle box companies make cheaper models.

Greggde
I made the rod holder in the van. It's just velcro looped for the rod handle and a webbing loop for the tip of the rod. I borrowed the idea from a rod holder I had seen in the past (may have been Rodbunk).

Peabugs ,
That is exactly how the RodBunk came to be in the late 70's . Good Job !

Re: Fishing Pole Carrier or Holder
Nice to see everyone is now calling them "rods" instead of "poles". A friend of mine's grandfather invented the fiberglass rod, the fiberglass pole vault, and was instramental in the Head HRP competition ski development in the 60's. My friend informed me years ago that they were rods. oclv
