I've still been poking around trying to find a small grill that runs on the green 1# gas bottles. I saw This Grill-4-All. Very compact and seems to get favorable reviews. The size is 17" x 13" x 9" and weighs 15#s. Much smaller that even the Weber 100. Has anyone used it? Here is a link to the Grill-4-alla and also a link for other grills, but I have ruled out most of them for size or other reasons. Thanks. oclv

Cant speak about that particular unit..

But my biggest beef with these gas grills is flame adjustability. I have the Igloo version...

I have to watch it like a hawk cause it will either burn the meat or blow out. It has an adjustable regulator on the tank for the flame, but barely makes a difference.

Just make sure whatever you get, it has good flame control.

For what I consider to be the very best grill (albeit really expensive), try: www.parker-grill.com (the hyphen is important). Luckily, one of these was given to me and it is a first-rate piece of kit! Literally built to last a lifetime.

Skywagon, to follow up on the previous post, how is the flame adjustability with the Parker. Also, does it run on the green 1# bottles? Looks very nice. You are right, pretty pricey, but if it lasts a lifetime..................

The Parker grill can run on 1# green bottles, I believe. However I have mine hooked up to a regular BBQ sized tank. (5 Gal?) . Flame adjustability is excellent. However, one side of the grill runs a little cooler, (on purpose) so that you can cook two kinds of stuff at the same time. Sometimes, when I'm cooking a bunch of the same stuff, I wish the whole grill was running at the same RPM, but MOST of the time, I like it the way it is. The build quality is just phenomenal. In this day and age of schlocky workmanship and lack of concern for quality, I consider my Parker Grill to be one of my favorite things! (No, I don't own the company)

I bailed on the Parker idea when I saw that Cabellas is having a sale on their stainless steel grill. It looks very similar to the Igloo above. It might be made by the same company, just with a Cabella's name plate on it. It was regularly $129 and on sale for $99. Looks real nice but I won't know about flame adjustability until I use it. I figured I'd try $99 to see how it goes. oclv

Give us a report on your grill when you get it. My parker is at my cabin in B.C. and I need one for the SMB. However, as much as I love the Parker, and as much use that the van grill would get, a $100 grill sounds like a pretty good deal.

Kids, we too have been burdened with the quest for the perfect grill. Looked at the stainless briefcase style and others. Went into a Wal-Hell during our outing this past week and grabbed a Weber Q 100 table top gas grill. Its US made, heavy duty, cast grill, stainless burner, runs on the 1# propane bottles and the flame is very adjustable. Its not as compact as some others and it ain't cheap ($149 at Wal-Hell), but damn, its a fine grill'n machine. Very happy with it.

Also, Wal-Hell had the stainless briefcase style of BBQ shown above. Can't remember the price, but it was fairly cheap. Just wasn't for us and the quality was marginal, in my opin.

New review after more use: We recently ran out of propane with our big, over-price home BBQ. Broke out the little Weber Q 100 and it saved the day. The grilling surface is much larger than it appears and, frankly, it cooked better than our super fancy grill. I'm definitely sold. Wish I wasn't on a diet right now as I'd love to be grilling burgers and steaks every night on this thing.

Yeah it's re-badged all over the place. I've seen at with many different names.

I think our regulator just went bad on ours. Now i have to hunt that down. All of sudden the flames go nuts on the thing. But i've also been running mine into the ground for a year and a half straight.

Yosh picked me up the notebook charcoal grill as a backup for the heck of it. It's pretty cool.
