Re: Hi-Lift Jacks

Gotta try it...thanks. Might be something our company can use as well.

Re: Hi-Lift Jacks

As far as mounting my 60" HL, I took Greggde's method and used the Yakima mounts.
I went this route mainly because no fabrication work was required and I like how it looks.
It comes with everything you need including the necessary hardware to bolt it up and
pad lock it on. I did have the tube mount portion of the bracket cut off but it's not
necessary as shown here on Greg vehicle.

The sweet part about the kit is that you can set the jack on the metal lip which helps
with one person installation and removal. It also does not restrict air flow to the radiator
and keeps my front license plate visible which is required in Ca.

The 60" jack does partially cover the fog lights but I really didn't see much difference.
Those who swapped out their fog lights for driving lights might be impacted though.

I agree that mounting it on the face of the bumper leaves it open to damage, but to tell
the truth I'd rather do damage to a $120.00 jack than a 2000 dollar bumper. I will take
care that I don't snag something that might cause bumper damage.

One bad thing about where it's mounted is if part of your body unexpectedly
contacts the jack ouch!

Re: Hi-Lift Jacks

Hmm, without the tubes that could work on the rear Aluminess too.

Re: Hi-Lift Jacks

Thats what I like about you Jage , you are alway's thinking . That would be a great alternative and I still have an extra set of bracket's to try out , as long as it does'nt impede the the opening movement of our Aluminess racks .
Great idea !

Re: Hi-Lift Jacks

Yeah, I was only thinking of the clearance between the swing arm and the bumper since I just tried to squeeze lights in there (no go). I forget that the swing arm latches hang down several inches.

Re: Hi-Lift Jacks

If you are going to use a high lift consider getting one of Christo Slee's Jac-Kof kits. They have a wheel strap (Jack off the tire), Hookup for hitch points on bumpers, axle strap (saves you having to jack up all the suspension lift before lifting the tire. Check them out here Slee Jac-Kof

Re: Hi-Lift Jacks

Received my 60" Hi-Lift jack today so now I just to mount it somewhere. Has anyone tried mounting on the rear bumper horizontally like Jage mentioned? Seems like this would help keep the road grime off a bit.

Another thought I had was mounted on the side ladder vertically. Think this would but too much prolonged weight on the ladder?

I still haven't decided if I'll use the neoprene cover or the full Jackguard box yet either. Decisions decisions...

Re: Hi-Lift Jacks

Lactic ,
My rear bumper is always dirtier at the end of a dusty or muddy road than my front . I mounted this 60" one in the same manner as Blackeye with the additional Thule Brackets and it has worked great .See my gallery page # 6 .
And too the contrary this position does not effect the Bumper mounted Hella Fog Lights . Really has been a viable mounting .

PS. the Jack Strap shown above is a tried and true addition to your Vans arsenal !

Re: Hi-Lift Jacks

If mounting the Hi Lift on the exterior, I'd suggest some sort of lock to keep it from sprouting legs.

Re: Hi-Lift Jacks

The kit I bought (same as Gregg's) has the locking plate to pad lock it to the studs.
I also hung a lock on the end so the jack cannot slide off.
