iphone guru wanted........
My wife just got me iphone 4s 16 and I almost cried getting rid of my 10 yr old motorola.
Curious the top few ways you're using this as it relates to travel. Top few apps, etc....
Navigation, photography/video, movies, music, utilities, etc....
thanks!

Re: iphone guru wanted........
Checking the forum when I'm on the road is the number one use for me.
Well, that and listening to the Joe bonamassa channel on pandora radio.

Re: iphone guru wanted........
here's a couple of useful ones for traveling and camping that we like:
free app: GasBuddy; netflix; yelp
not free: planets (for night stars, planets and satellites), all stays camp & Rv (public and private campground info);the alaska app (AK travel); flashlight (i-phone as a light source or emergency flasher)
their are good ones for birders and wild flowers as well.

You can get an app called tap talk. It is a forum search app that makes it fairly easy to view this forum or others. As for camping... Cool picture apps so you can get cool camping pics. I try to get mostly free apps. Why not? I do always read the reviews at the bottom of the page and see what others think. Craigslist is cool too. Flashlight app for walking around at night. And for now off the top of my head that will do.

Use Ibooks (native app) and put all your SMB manuals on it.
As was mentioned, Gas Buddy and Yelp come in handy.
Road Trip for keeping track of vehicle expenses.
Scrabble for rainy camp days.
Keeper, not really travel related but a Killer App for remembering all of those darn passwords.

It's Tapatalk, just trying to help, you won't find stuff in the App store if not spelled correctly. It's a great Forum app. Otherwise, check out Waze, weather apps (The Weather Channel, Weatherbug, Wunder), calculators of all types, unit converters, levels (very handy for us camping types), many good camera/photo editing apps, flashlights which use your camera flash and are actually quite good, Facebook if you're in to that type of thing, news sites, free radio (Slacker, Pandora), lots of great GPS apps out there (Waze, MotionX), games, games, and more games (try Real Racing, you won't believe it!, Cut The Rope, Angry Birds, many great calendar and personal organization apps, buy a cable and use your phone for an obd2 reader..........the list goes on!
You'll never be bored again, have fun!

Check to see of your financial institution has an app. Makes it easy to check balances or transferring when traveling.
Most of my forum time is spent on TapaTalk. There are some good first aide apps like iTriage, Survival Guide, and WebMD. For news there is the Associated Press and BBC.

Larrie, those are two great ideas I hadn't thought of. Just downloaded 4 apps to try, 2 first aid, 2 bank apps. I actually keep a folder of 'apps to try' on my phone which I play around with when I have free time, before I call them a keeper. That way I kind of weed out the crappy ones since there are so many out there.
