Let's call it a penthouse multi-table

....what I did on my summer vacation....

So I wanted a lightweight camp table that I could store somewhere easily......so here is what I came up with.

folded up...

Stored on the penthouse rails.....

deployed in "cook table" mode......

reconfigured to coffee/cocktail table....

Did I mention that it also makes a nice penthouse shelf?

So I've had this idea in my head for months......I finally spent $8 on 2X4's to make a mock-up....there are lots of little puzzle-like inter dependencies in this design...was a great brain exercise....

The table is built from western red cedar for light weight (smells awesome too!)
the outer two slats are clear fir....western red cedar was not the material of choice to hold the top surface.

Top surface is LDPE (low density polyethylene)....cutting board material....it slides out of either end for easy cleaning

The knobs are all from Mcmaster Carr (of course they are!)

The fasteners and spacers are also from Mcmaster

The links were fabricated from scrap 6061 aluminum that I had laying around

For the keen observers, there are a couple of black delrin blocks..delrin rems picked up when I bought the top sheet at the local plastic supply house.

Yes, I know it looks like something from IKEA...... ;-)

Outstanding, but needs a beer or two on it.

Youtube is the easiest - and then you can embed it here. I'm quite certain you can figure it out!
