Marine accesories for SMB

Just visited by a sailing friend who showed me this website: http://www.westmarine.com. Lots of interesting storage and other gadgets that make sense as ships and SMBs share similar space constraints. May be old news to those with more experience.

West Marine is a big chain, much like Boaters World. Good stuff, and some parts that are designed for boats are already used in SMBs. Fair warning though, most marine gear makes SMB and RV stuff seem very inexpensive. The good news is, depending on your location, you can visit a store locally. I like to do more than look at a few website pictures before buying things.

west marine is a great store and website. and it is tru that lots of the marine stuff can be used for smb's whether they be factory or diy build.

i have one locally here in north jersey. good service.

there are other marine websites such as defendermarine.

west marine is definitely not a low cost provider, however, i have had them price match purchases about a dozen times. most often, i show them defendermarines price and they match. sometimes it is significant and they dont even blink.

i recently paid $2 a foot for 2/0 marine battery cable. the local store does not normally stock it. they ordered it for someone who never showed up and it sat in topstock. they sell it for almost $8 a foot. perhaps i could find 2/0 cheaper elsewhere but i think i got a great deal for excellent cable.

i also purchased most of my 12v system components, wiring and fuses from west marine.

He mentioned defenders marine, too. Said they had great sales at their stores, none of which are near me. I'll ck their webpage, too.

Overton's and Boatersworld are a couple others I've shopped on-line with. I know each West Marine store is different. The one in Fresno is lame but the one in Stockton is really nice. Still going on-line will show way more than most stores stock.
