Main issue that kept us from using a composting toilet for our build was venting with a pop top. Seemed the vent would be at the same level as our bed without some telescoping setup to vent it above the pop top when raised. Secondary consideration was space.

The Thetford 550 Porta Potti has been a very acceptable solution. Using the right additives and Happy Bowl liners. Also, not cleaning the holding tank out w chemicals which tends to kill the enzymes that are in the additive. Just a couple of good rinses w fresh water.
