Rescue Tape

There have been a couple of discussions on what tools or gadgets to carry with us....

Has anyone ever used "Rescue Tape" ??

Pretty spendy... but seems like it could come in very handy some day out on the trail. I might have to pick up a roll or two.

I've used it and it is very good stuff. Great for sealing leaks, etc. I think that it is worth having in your tool box since it can do many things that neither electrical tape nor duct tape can do.

It says self fusing, does that mean you have to be able to do a complete wrap to get it to stick?

Just curious, I was sold at "no sticky residue"... I loathe tape residue.

I carry two Rolls in the Sportsmobile and two in the boat . It really does all that it claims .I have repaired electrical , fuel , water and even the nose of one of my Longboards at Rattlesnakes on a particularly large day .The fusing qualities are quite remarkable .

Footnote ,
If you know any Hi Power Line Electricians , Edison etc. You might check with them as this was originally made for this industry in Black and Red my youngest son is the one who first introduced this product to me a few years ago , thankfully he is now out on his own and away from the big nasty stuff that BLOWS BODY PARTS OFF

To answer Jage's question, yes, you need to stretch it and wrap it on itself...it doesn't stick to the surface of the item that you are attaching it to but only to itself.

At work I use a similar 3-M product for wrapping high voltage stuff to keep birds/animals from blowing up and to keep tracking down but the ad claims of high tensile strength. I keep some on board but never thought about using it as a temporary fan belt. At least when you have to cut it off it removes clean unlike Mastic which is a mess to remove.

AND, this last weekend while working on a non-SMB plumbing project and during one of my many trips to Home Depot, I found what looks to be a similar product.

It is called Stretch and Seal Silicone Sealing Tape and it is made by Nashua Tape Products that looks ot be part of Covalence Adhesives.

It looks like Duluth Trading (www.duluthtrading.com) also sells a similar product called X-Treme Tape.
