Safe to hang hammock from aluminess ladder?

Can I hang one end of my hammock from my aluminess ladder or it rip it off the rain gutters?

If you're hanging your full body weight when you're climbing it, can't see any reason it wouldn't hold up half a hammock's weight. That is, unless you're a very active sleeper. 😄

Only issue I see is that instead of downward force, the hammock will be exerting force away from the body. Let us know how it goes.

I've also been wondering about hanging on the inside from the PH latches. Anyone tried that?

Or, while we're on the subject... thoughts on hanging from the upper seat belt bolts?

Depending on how much sag or how little sag there is in your hammock the horizontal forces imparted can become very large. The more shallow the angle the higher the horizontal load. As the angle goes to zero the load tends towards infinity.

Check surfgeek33's photo album... there's an inspirational hammock pic there. Looks like one end is attached at upper seat belt.

Thought about this too, haven't done it yet. I would bet you could hang it off the aluminess ladder without any issues. SMB penthouse latches, not so much.

Well you wouldn't want any part of the system to fail and dump you ass-first on the ground, especially if you just happened to hang the hammock right above a pointy rock. Right rallypanam?
