If you're hanging your full body weight when you're climbing it, can't see any reason it wouldn't hold up half a hammock's weight. That is, unless you're a very active sleeper. 😄
Depending on how much sag or how little sag there is in your hammock the horizontal forces imparted can become very large. The more shallow the angle the higher the horizontal load. As the angle goes to zero the load tends towards infinity.
Thought about this too, haven't done it yet. I would bet you could hang it off the aluminess ladder without any issues. SMB penthouse latches, not so much.
