I've only driven it on pavement since I got the trans temp part, and the outside high temps are in the thirties around here. But, given that, it pretty much stays at 152 degrees and climbing a long hill it goes up to 164. This is all at 45-65 mph.
Summer time and slow crawling in the dirt will tell the tale.

I've been around 205 when towing 6500lbs up a respectable grade.

Ditto on the X-Monitor and Scangauge (1.0).

My trans temp generally runs in the 150's but I've hit 200 on long uphills. My trans alarm goes off at 190 (I read somewhere that the trans is good through 225) so I was a little nervous and I let it idle a while after parking to bring the temps down and not cook the fluid.

Trans temps

I think up to 250 for a short time is ok but I would change the trans oil soon after...

Mine runs at 200 quite often. For some reason my van seems to run hotter
than most even with vents in the hood....

The diesel guru that I once to my SMB to, said to set the alarm at 230. Personally, I'm more concerned about EGTs than trans temp when getting ready to shut the engine down. High EGTs can cook the oil in the turbo bearings. Of course, then there's the debate about at what EGT to shut down the engine.

I typically shut down the van after the pyro (turbo temp) gets down to about 350.

If I'm in a rush, anything under 400 and hit the remote start "short run" button.

50,000 trouble free miles and counting...
