How do these mount? It looks like they fasten to the body's pinch seam is that correct?

I have the Aluminess running boards. After going thru a set of steel tubular on my last van that rusted out after only a few years, the powder coated Aluminess should last a very long time. We spend a lot of time on the beach. The only thing I don't like about them is they are not frame mounted which could be bad news if I ever hit something significant.

Here is a set my brother fabbed for my van. They mount to the frame with a plate that must be welded. But, as you can see, the sliders/running boards are then removable. What is tough to see is that they are mounted about an inch below the body's pinch weld. Frame and body flex on vans is considerable so you have to be careful to how close you get to the pinch weld. These are stout and should take quite a beating. Mine are getting coated with a bed liner spray and should be back soon.
If anyone is interested in a set, my brother will make you a set for any Ford van application. The mounting points on the frame will be slightly different for gasser, 7.3 diesel and 6.0 diesel. PM me and we can discuss the details.

All of these look very nice. I still have ( and likely will
keep the running boards original to my Chevy ( 2005)
Express EB. However, I am having a large problem finding the black “stick-on” covers for them! I need an entire new set, but no luck finding them. Even the Chevy dealer claims to have no idea where people get them ( ridiculous!). I need ideas and sources, can
anyone help me find some, please????

A photo of what you’re looking for would help. Is it anti-slip tape for the step part? If so, you can source that lots of places for generic stuff and cut to fit.

My guess is that manufacturers don't see a future in providing for vans that are no longer produced so, just when you find something you like, it turns out they don't have a version to fit. There are custom-made ones that cost plenty and may or may not suit the need. There's a guy on here that makes some great sliders (somebody help me out with his handle, I'm blanking...) and they're the real deal for sliding on rocks, but were a little too basic-looking for me. If you want rugged, though, I'd go there. I needed a really good step more than I needed rock protection.
What I really lusted after were the AMP electric steps, but you can't get em anymore. I found a guy in Chicago who adapts the Sprinter version to E350s but wanted something like $3500.
After tons of research, I was about to pull the trigger on the Aluminess nerfs and get a custom powdercoat job (didn't want black). But then I decided to embrace my chrome look for now and found these polished stainless ones, with a nice wide step. At 20% off and free shipping, they were more reasonable. Should be arriving in a few days. I'll let you know how they do.

I think I have a set of the AMP running boards you are talking about. They came with my van but aren't set up. I am interested in selling them because I think I prefer the bulkier aluminess nerf bars. New to 4x4s though and I'm not sure if what I have is a better way to go.

We had the Ford factory running boards covered in Line-x. We like using them as a shelf and that things cannot roll off the back of them and become “lost” under the van.
