Shower/bathroom enclosures

While running the Bradshaw Trail over the ML King holiday with my family we came to the realization that we really liked the convenience of the Outback Porta Privy over the other two brands that we had brought with us to keep the girls happy and the Grandsons clean
The Paha Que Tepee and the Cabelas Shower are great for long time camp site set up but when you are exploring and sleeping in a new site every night the bulk and hassle of set up and tear down become redundant . When we arrived home all three of my Children decided that they should have a quick set up unit just like dear old Dad and I ran across a neat site to forward to my Kids . www.hotcampshowers.com Goto the sidebar and click on Shower Tents/Privacy Shelters and scroll down to the Porta Privy section and click on the Porta Privy
Folding Video for a very trick way to refold the enclosure , after a cuple of trial runs you can unfold and refold the unit in less than 30 second's !!!

Re: Shower/bathroom enclosures

The closing video looks like some kind of magic trick.
Does it really work that well in real life?

Now that is what I call "Trick"! Plus it looks like it just might store in the "PortaPotty" cabinet.

Re: Shower/bathroom enclosures

It really does work ! It took four practice try's and a four letter superlative and then BINGO !
I had always struggled thru the typed instructions on the included carrying case .

Re: Shower/bathroom enclosures

There are two problems with the Outback, although we love ours.

1. Folding is one of those things that is super easy until you think about doing it. Then I don't care if you've folded it a dozen times in 2 seconds, you're going to be back stuck wondering how it ever worked and fumbling with it until your mind can turn off and stop thinking about it.

2. The result is a GIANT ring, relative to storage in the van. The only place it fits in the van is under back part of the 50 bed, and it's too thick to fit with the tubs we keep under there, so it always ends up on the bed and in the way if it's not set up.

Love the Outback - the folding is brilliant. Re: its huge circular size... what about strapping it to the spare? I'm gonna try that once I finally get the swing-out carrier mounted. In the meantime my custom layout has a perfect spot for it, so I'm not too fussed

Re: Shower/bathroom enclosures

I was going to ask for the folded size then I found this Cabella's review site that lists it as 2" x 24" around.

The cheapest I've found it online is Amazon at $60.95 + $9 shipping.

We like our Porta-Privy too although I have to agree that folding it up can be a problem if you don't do it often. Unfortunately, the guy doing the folding video is trying to impress viewers and doesn't really provide any solid direction about how to fold it up. Here is another video which is a little better:

Re: Shower/bathroom enclosures

That is the same Video I used to interpret the vague printed instructions on the Porta Privy
carrying case and was useful to be sure . What I didn't like was the fact that the lower edge of the unit was subjected to abrasion and dirt . In fact we tattered the lower seam on our first unit and didn't always have a ready backstop to place the bottom against especially when I am by myself . I to was a bit skeptical when I first saw this Video but really found that it works much better for me than the video of lady in her hallway . Try it you will like it !
