Ski boot dryers

Ok snow fans, quick question fer ya.

Seeing that SMB's are a great way to enjoy skiing (riding) & camping, what are you folks doing to dry your boots after a day of pow, corn or cord.

I see many 120/12 volt boot dryers, & we all know that we really don't want to heat up that liner, (just Stink up ) and blow dry with mild heat. My liners hate to be removed & even fight me to go back in, so boot drying is key. Hook'n up to shore power or something is great, but if your boondock'n it, runnning a dryer for hours seems like a real dreadful way to use your juice.

Do you guys/gals use something like this or use the house dryers at a resort or nothing when doing the backcountry.

If i got you thinking about sliding (n. america folks) Good ! Ya, my brother just got back from Chile, but I got more MTB in while he was gone

Re: Ski boot dryers

I often use crumpled up newspaper in place of a bootdryer. The dry paper is fairly effective at absorbing moisture and odor. If my boots or gloves are pretty wet I'll swap out the newspaper after a few hours.

I hate wet gear so I try to change out of my boots and gloves if I'm going to apres or whatever.

Ski boot dryers

I don't use boot dryers, but it really helps if you can remove the liners from the shells, and the insoles from the liners. Fairly easy with my tele boots, but I know DH boots can be a pain.

Also, if sweaty feet is your problem, try rubbing antiperspirant on them. I've done this a few times when it's really cold & I don't want to risk moisture in my boots.

Cheers,
Brent

Boots liners gloves hats all go

You mean, you have a PH top, but instead of a bed you put gridwall panels, so you have vented drying overhead? Interesting....

mounted w/ 4 eye bolts to roof of Wilson

works great for light loose objects, rain gear etc

would not hold boots

Blahaha...I've used Neckties, Chains, Duct Tape, Ropes, Webbing & String etc. to hang shells & liners, but burnt-out Binders ? can't believe after all these years, I've missed that one.

...I can see cabins, cribs & Rigs all over the World with boots hanging from old binders...shops, dens, kitchens, bathrooms, livingooms...frigg'n lov it!

Now to grab the sawzall & cut up some old skis. Figure 6" of Ski overhang (toe/heel) should do just fine for mounting points...Think I'll practice on a closet ceiling, though, eh.

Thanx, any pics?

VW Tele & dParkwy: Ya, wet feet = the big freeze. I always have boot sweat. I like the idea of newspaper to draw out moisture and a little pre antiperspirant - two ideas that will be tested. My Current (?) dh boots have custom liners w/custom footbeds...talk about getting beaten up hands. "Are your feet bleeding, man?" ... "Naw, thats just knuckle blood"

Re: Ski boot dryers

Dryer sheets and newspaper work wonders and keep your boots from stinking you out.
