T-shaped hood bra cover search

Maybe check on a bra in different colors other than black - due to heat ? Maybe light gray or san color - or order by color ? Just thinking -- dangerous I know --

Fathers Day gift arrived and installed. Definitely spruces up the hood!


Ran into a bit of difficulty getting the hood to latch afterwards. It wasn't anything to do with the bikini, I've had it happen a couple of times in the past. Both times were after having some work done on the van so I didn't catch what they did to fix it. Basically the latch catches but doesn't engage when you slam the hood down. Very frustrating. Finally remembered one of the guys mentioning something about the hood release under the dash. Gave it a jiggle and it snapped back into position. The cable was getting hung up somewhere and not letting the latch snap back into position. Just thought I'd mention it if someone else runs into the same problem.

Looking for a hood bra for my 2006 Ford E350 SMB. The original one broke and was thrown away by the previous owner. I can no longer stand looking at the sun baked hood where the original bra was and I am not quite ready to update to the newer front clip.

FYIW & thought it would be good to share;
Couple Years ago, the Hood Mask (or Hood Bra) were not available shortly after the Field Van transition (back then I looked and called). Not sure when they added the 'Masks' back to their site, but a recent inquiry was met with good news (both the '92 thru '07, and the '08 to present);

We actually make them in house and they do require an approximate 2-week lead time. I’ve had a couple cars with bras, and discovered that if they aren’t removed regularly to wash out all the grit that accumulates, that grit turns to grinding compound that can wear through the paint in just a year or two. I’d rather have a few rock chips.

I remember my first van (2005) hood bra did the same thing !

I don't care cause I didn't purchase it for protection. So now I'm doomed to always having a hood mask.

As long as the ones they are making fit over all the damage I'm good. I had thought about some spray on liner but Na, I'll just fight the dirt, sticks, and berries that get trapped in there.
Glad to know SMB has them...I've been looking. Mine is on its last leg.

In our conversation Brian did mention these are the same hood bra design as the originals...so whatever bikini lines you acquired should match up with the replacement.

Hood is so easy to wrap I would just DIY PPF it or you could go racecar and matte-black vinyl.

No sense with one of these clumsy, paint wrecking turds in 2024.
