You don't need a slot in the doghouse for it to toast. I've sworn on a number of occasions that I smelled buring hair only to find its my LEG resting against the doghouse.

What about a propane powered toaster over? Do those even exist?

I have one more question about this subject and that is the issue of heat. On some of the nicer Class B RV's I've seen microwaves built in to cabinets that have a few inches of ventilation above them. Basically, they're just building the cabinet a little taller and putting a nice grill over the hole.

I have not seen much, if any, ventilation on the SMB builds I've seen. Is this necessary? Maybe SMB figures your not going to use the thing more than 5 minutes at a time. But if you go with an oven in that same cabinet, could there be a problem of it getting too hot? Would vents help?

Thanks,

Our microwave has some ventilation above it. We have a center aisle layout. The microwave is the topmost item in a cabinet, but there are at least a couple of inches above the top of the microwave. Most of this area is hidden by a lip of the cabinetry.

The microwave in the 50 layout goes in place of a drawer that is otherwise more than twice as deep. There is probably plenty of airspace back there to keep things ventilated.

I wouldn't hard mount an oven anywhere in an SMB without special precautions. We use a toaster oven and are very careful about heat above and especially letting it cool before putting it back in the drawer.
