Which Torque Wrench from Where?

Aargh. I just went to use my new torque wrench and realized it only goes to 100. Having read the recent posts on flying wheels, I thought I should be on top of this.

So, looking for recommendations. Where should I get a new torque wrench of good quality? A certain brand? How much should I expect to pay?

According to the Econoline manual for the E350, the lug nut torque is 140. (Thanks, rallypanam, I think, for posting that).

I have found the Kobalt / Lowes house brand to be reliable.. it differs a bit from my Craftsman, but [edit]not[/edit] enough that I worry about it (had the same issue). And I don't use it enough to wear it out.

I bought the Tekton 24340 1/2" recently. It is really nice and came in two days with Amazon Prime. You aren't going to find a quality 1/2" torque wrench for cheaper anywhere.

This is what I have. Mainly so when it breaks I can go swap it out for free.

I'm with JoeH, the CDI is what I have. Not the cheapest, but it won't break the bank and it is a quality tool.

In the past I have never carried a big heavy torque wrench around but have been thinking of a smaller cheapo for on the road. I always just used a breaker bar on the trail. At home I have a Proto J6014CXCERT and a smaller Snap-on... somewhere. The Tekton 1/2 drive looks good for under 40 bucks.

40 year old Crafstman beam type 1/2" drive...goes to 140 or 150 ft-lbs IIRC. Cheap and cheerful....works great.

I have a small collection of lab grade torque wrenches, but for the lugs I just use the one above.

...the longer the handle is the better.....140 ft-lbs is a lot of torque.
