Albums (Gallery) Progress

Good news- since the only indications of progress on the Albums has been the occasional board outage, and I've FINALLY accomplished some forward progress, I thought I'd give an update to those who are biting their nails in anticipation:

1. The gallery software is currently running on production
2. The album data from the old site has been successfully transferred
3. The photos from the old site have been successfully transferred

The above #1 is what broke the site last Saturday, so this is a big hurdle that's been cleared.

[edit] Done with #4!
4. Images currently display as broken, despite all data being in place (the "alt" tag clearly identifies that the correct photo record is being accessed and this is working on my laptop)

[color=blue][edit] Done with #5!
5. A "style" template needs to be installed and modified for the SMB4um website (you may have noticed the site changing to a more industrial PHPBB3 look during the outages... that is the style the gallery is built for)

Once 4 and 5 are complete you will have access to the gallery once again. Minor changes will be made from there.

Again, thank you all for your patience. Keep your fingers crossed that the rest will go smoothly.

Re: Albums (Gallery) Progress

The single most painful, and longest solo project I've ever done was spending two months putting a complete 6" lift on an 86 Cherokee, after 15 years of Indiana salt induced rust, using only hand tools in my parents' driveway. That was until this little gallery mod...

Much like the Jeep it's not quite done (ever), but for the first time in a long time we can all sit back, sigh, and go, "I should have gone bigger."

Enjoy!

Re: Albums (Gallery) Progress

Will we be getting the sort feature in the Gallery like we had before?

It was very nice to be able to sort for new photos.

Thanks

Re: Albums (Gallery) Progress

My intention is to have the Galleries sort by latest additions, but the software doesn't have anything currently.

Re: Albums (Gallery) Progress

Confused on how to post images and add them to a different post. Jumped thru some hoops and got it done. Is this the way the site works now? Not bad just different.

Re: Albums (Gallery) Progress

Haven't had time to modify the code. There are a bunch of minor issues with the gallery not quite working the way I want. I'm assuming you'd like to see the old [img] tag function still work locally?

Re: Albums (Gallery) Progress

It was easy to just highlite copy and paste but I'm not worried about the new approch and who knows I might be doing some extra steps that I don't have to. Computers confuse me anyway. Seems like there is always 3 or 4 ways to do the same thing at least.
