I think you have 24 hours to edit, after that it's locked.

Curious. Strange policy. How do you change the price on an item for sale or add information? Makes the classified pretty worthless.

Updates to Classified Ads need to be a new post to that thread.

The intent behind locking the thread is based primarily on the Classified themselves. We want the Ads to be reference material for people, and not modified/deleted after an item has sold or has been pulled from sale. Keeping the threads intact helps set prices/expectations for other For Sale items, as well as setting realistic expectations for potential Buyers.

Thanks Herb. Appreciate the response. I understand the policy and rationale. Still, this makes the process very clunky for sellers (new posts required rather than edits to original), prevents sellers from updating post/correcting errors and modifying price clearly in a way that reflects what buyers will actually pay rather than what sellers think they can get. I would recommend re-examining the policy to make it more transaction-friendly. You can always keep the post live after the sale for reference purposes.
