On my tablet (android) all I do is press and hold the link, and it gives me the option to open in a new tab.

Re: links to open in a new window

BUMP... new to the forum and I have noticed this and it is very annoying. Almost all other forums I visit will open a new window/tab when I click on a link. That applies even if the link is to another thread/post in the same forum. I use Safari ( ) and it's not a setting because clicking opens on other forums. I hate to go deep into someone else's site or thread and forget where I am or have to click the back arrow several times. That is all.

Re: links to open in a new window

FWIW, a contrary opinion. I prefer to decide whether a link opens locally or in a new tab. Right-clicking, control-clicking and pressing are part of my daily workout. Strengthens fingers, creates mental agility, etc.

Thanks for that perspective Don. Not only do I agree, but it also makes me feel like I'm getting a little more exercise here than just lifting my coffee cup.

Re: links to open in a new window

In Chrome:

- ctrl+shift+left mouse click - opens link in a new tab and brings it to the front
- ctrl+left mouse click - opens link in new tab and keeps it in the background.

I use the latter one a lot if I am reading something that I want to finish before moving onto the link, also if an article has a lot of interesting links I can open them all in the background and check them out after finishing the article.
