Photo Editing

Please include a function to rotate images! If the forum can rotate what I post to an incorrect position it can provide a function for me to correct it. Thanks GH

If you first edit the Pic by "cropping" (just ever so slightly), then "save" it, the Pic will show up in correct orientation every time.

Plus, by simply holding the phone sidewise with the camera/top of the phone on the left, my experiences is they load right side up.

Not unique to this site BTW.

Neither of those 'fixes' should be necessary. It's a forum glitch.

I don’t disagree, but it’s better to know how to circumvent the pics posting incorrectly, than go through the frustration of deciphering an immediate “fix” after they're showcased.

While I don’t disagree either, the issue is a forum software problem and don’t believe it is a simple solution to fix. We are here free with limited ads compared to some.

This has been discussed for literally years. See this thread, just one of many, where Janet mentions vBulletin:

We could just as easily blame the picture taking device. As most cameras now take the picture, and slap on the orientation data and save the file. It doesn't help that most common position that people take photos with on their iPhone is with the camera upside down.

Unfortunately the forum does not support EXIF data, so it does not rotate the upside down picture for you.

You could just as easily designed the device so when the picture was taken, the device knowing the orientation, rotated and saved and we wouldn't be having this discussion. Instead they save and add the orientation data. To do that would take up resources and time, and thus make the time interval between snapping photos longer. So now what ever program displaying the photo needs to be able to read and use the EXIF data to display the corrected orientation.

Thanks for all the replies. My iPhone was in the correct orientation. I am trying to attach a photo from my I photos file. If I counter rotate prior to uploading I still come out sidewise. Well I found the crop function. Seems to solve the problem. Thanks!
This is making me want to get sidewise.

I suppose that, in my case, I always edit in Photoshop and save for web presentation after making adjustments, crops and framing. Once I save the jpg, I've never had that forum issue, tho I've seen other suffer with it.
