Picture Re-sizing???
In the past, uploaded pictures to a gallery were automatically re-sized during upload.
Currently, pictures upload and can be so huge that they can not be viewed.
Is it now necessary to manually re-size pictures before uploading?

Don't quote me but I was told the upload will go faster and cause you less trouble if you do it before uploading. Actually this was true with the previous software but was less noticeable than now.

Agreed. I'm not aware the previous software automagically changed the image size. At least, it didn't do it to my uploads if I forgot to resize them. Instead, it turned them upside down. Don't know about the new software but I'd be surprised if it changed upload pixel counts.

If you upload as an attachment the software will resize it for you. If you hotlink it from another site it will pull the full size image into your browser and resize it for you.

I don't know what Scotty did, maybe he will chime in here. When I viewed his latest trip report the site didn't seem to resize his pictures at first and caused issues loading the page. Now everything seems OK. I just attached a large file picture in the testing section and the site did resize the picture.

Well, first I emailed a mod and never heard back. I still don't know why I can't edit my original post. The edit button is simply missing from the post. So, instead I removed those pics from my album, resized them on my computer and resubmitted them about half the size they were (can't remember what size exacltly). Anyway, when I resubmitted them as an additional reply at the end of the post, but I did it a different way, by adding them from the menu on the 'post reply' under 'insert image' (little mountain icon across the top where you can change your font, etc.)
That's the way I'll do them from now on, it's easier I think.

Damn, were you trying to contact me? I never got a PM back from you and noticed the post had been changed. Can you edit other posts you have made? Hard for me to know as a moderator being we can edit most posts. I seem to recall there are some limitations concerning member editing but this is so new that it's going to take time before I'm comfortable with the new format. It might have just been timing on your part on why the images did what they did Eric. The site was going through minor hiccups at that time.

My question was in regards to uploading to your gallery - it does not resize and it used to.
