TapaTalk for dummies

So, I have an Android based tablet, and at home I use it's internet browser to view and read SMB4um. What would TapaTalk do for me?

Trying to decide if it's worthwile before dropping a whopping $2.99 for it.

Re: TapaTalk for dummies

Herb,

I know some people love it but I have it on my Tablet and never use it. It might work really well on your phone or if you have a bunch of forums that use it. So far I just like using the browser for viewing the SMB Forum

Re: TapaTalk for dummies

It gives a simplified version of the forum, which is great for a phone but pointless for a tablet. You lose a considerable amount of functionality in exchange for easy to use reading and posting in a small format.

I use TT all the time while laying on my couch. I sit in front of a computer most of the day and prefer to be in a more comfortable place when when surfing at home. TT is also convenient for reading and replying from my iPhone when I am away from a computer. Yes there is limited functionality but it works for me.

Looking at the forum on Tapa Talk right now. On my I Pad it crashes a lot. Not so much on this forum but on others. Expanding pics is normally when it happens. To me it's a necessary evil, because its an easy to view the forums from. I've actually paid the $2.99 more than once. I had an issue that I couldn't resolve so I wiped it off then reloaded TT and things have been fine since.

Tonight it's been fine, no issues at all. It has never crashed on my iPhone. I have no explanation for it.

I hesitated about buying it, too, but ended up liking it for it's simplicity.

Biggest negatives, IMO, is inability to upload pics to the website but that's probably an iOS thing since you can't do it from a browser, either. However, you can upload to the TT cloud, whatever that is.

I wouldn't spend the extra $'s on the iPad version. The basic one works for me on the phone and tablet.

I'm on quite a few forums. Never bought TT till I bought my smb.

Makes posting pics and checking new posts a cinch on my Iphone. Might not need it for a tablet.
