Wiki

First, let me emphasize how helpful this forum has been to me over the last several months as my wife and I have agonized over, decided to and designed our forthcoming SMB. I shudder to think of how many hours we've spent here since last June but they were all worth the effort.

Some threads that I found particularly helpful might be worthy of adapting to the wiki. In particular, this discussion on air lockers: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=45&hilit=air+lockers+ARB&start =0 (and a couple of related ones), a similar one on full floating axles (I don't have it's link right now), the 10 best & 10 least add-ons threads, the vehicle delivery checklist, and - perhaps - the insurance thread were very helpful for me. I would be wiling to adapt them to the wiki if that is appropriate but I don't want to jump in without hearing from oler hands.

So, what is the view of others in the forum?

Thanks.

Re: Wiki

The more the better. Even if you just make an outline of things you'd LIKE to see in the wiki that gives others a place to fill in.

Re: Wiki

I'd probably start w/a detailed outline/cut-and-paste from the threads I mentioned anyway, so that would give others ample opportunity to jump in. In addition to editablility, the beauty of a wiki frequently is in the discussion tab, imho.

Re: Wiki

Just posted a 4WD discussion to the wiki: http://bit.ly/o66AQl. I also linked to it on the wiki home page under components. It's not done yet, as you'll see, but should be a start. Please let me know your thoughts either in this thread or in the discussion tab on the wiki page. Or, edit the page. Thanks.

Re: Wiki

Wikis are hard. They aren't spontaneous and freeflowing like a forum or listserv. They require writing well if done well. And, it can be hard to find things in them.

OTOH, they are excellent places to store info, they benefit from collaboration, and they can help w/the vampire problem if forum grey beards send questioners to an existing wiki page. For example, if punBB can tell you the most common redundant posts, the questioner could be sent to corresponding wiki pages without using too much electronic or mental bandwidth.

At any rate, thanks for the kudo, Jeremiah. Looking forward to any comments or edits.
