Re: '12 E250 RB 5.4L w/ SMB penthouse custom build

Without becoming a blithering idiot I would have to say that Jim has done an incredible job of designing not only his needed form but made it functional and substantially nicer than any SportsMobile that I have ever seen . He continually looked at all of our dislikes and shortcomings and formulated a design plan that would change or exclude the numerous things lthat many of us have posted . His Van is one to be proud of especially the quality of the interior cabinetry ,every time I have seen it I consider a Gut Job on ours .

I will say most non-SMB interior conversions still look like they're stuck in the 70's and 80's, with dark interiors and heavy, bulky looking construction. This one on the other hand has a clean, contemporary styling that should hold up well aesthetically to time.

That said, I also see a lot of great functionality, and what looks to be first rate quality construction. Very nice.

Was the RVI customer interior on par with the price of SMB RB50? I'm wondering how much (if any) weight it saved too? Wonder if they would do an AWD chevy express? Have the top done by CCV.. sounds like a pretty awesome snow/surf machine.

RVI prices were on par with SMB but dare I say the quality and craftsmanship is far superior to any SMB. No clue about weight savings. If there is any it's probably not very much. I just weighed my rig last week. With 3/4 tank fuel, about 25 gal of water, one passenger, and about 200 lbs of tools etc.

Front 3,540
Rear 5,080
Total 8,620

Can you give us a review of the Propex heater? They look amazing and there about half the size of the Atwood I'm looking at but there also twice as expensive.

Re: '12 E250 RB 5.4L w/ SMB penthouse custom build

Tho I've only used it on a couple trips I've been really happy with it. It seems efficient and is not noisy. Also, the fact it's tiny compared to the Atwood/Suburban rigs and you don't have to cut a big hole in the side of your rig (mine is plumbed out the bottom) make it a no-brainer. I'm honestly stumped on why more folks don't have/use them.
