feel free!!

I stole it from the newer ford (2000) runningboards that light up...figured an entry light for that rascal of a step would make it very nice...and with the big door light facing backward it lights the area around the step and also shines down the roadway to let people know the doors open and illuminates the people getting in and out for safety (yup..all that from one little light..better than a door reflector!)

AND when you turn the domelight on hunting for that baby bottle/toy/tool/sammich that slid away from ya..your lighting the darkest parts of the van and it makes finding anything EASY (and if someones acting up in the back and the accent lights dont let ya quite see whats up...flick on the domelight switch and ya can see the entire van floor and walls no problem!!)..

I gottem from this ebay seller...he sells all diffrent colors..and diffrent cases...I got the white with black case..WICKED bright...thinkin about getting some for awning lights...

Thanks for the link. They are on their way.
I really need to stop reading these posts. All these great ideas keep costing me money.

Re: 1985 6.9 turbodiesel homebuild!

alrighty folks...heres the rest of the planned storage lockers...still have a TON of room on the driveside behind the back driver capt chair (about 3ft!)

the cabinets are 2ft tall..18in wide..and around 12in deep...the backs were cut out to use the wasted space behind them (4in deep)..DANG just noticed I forgot to pull the stock speaker frame...its gonna come out during final install..

I've listened to everybody say they dont have enough storage..so with the bed frame (4x18tallx30 deep-with extra 4in behind the stock trim)..

the grey cabinets give 6cuft for the pair..(guess-timating for wheel and filler humps...)

bed is 14cuft (again removing wheel-hump)...

with the bed slid in theres a 2ft isle..with it out its about 8in..

I decided to load stuff I know we will regularly haul into the bed storage...
inside includes...
big toolbag(bout the size of 2 standard toolboxes stacked.)
2 gal jugs..water and oil
hydraulic floor jack
jumper cables in bag
2 kids folding chairs
1 kids folding nest chair
1 adult folding chair
15ft coil airhose..
and theres enough room left over that we figure all our bedding and most all of our cloths will fit in there...

the fridge will go where the milk crate is (between bed and back door)..so the cabinets will probably be food and games..and whatever else we start carrying with us..

Re: 1985 6.9 turbodiesel homebuild!

Storage? Oh my mistake. When I saw the two lids propped open on the bed box I thought maybe that was your bathroom.
No offence but you see it reminded me of the old two-holer I saw on my Aunt Virginia's farm when I was just a young'in.
It's funny how you think about things coming full circle. Her running water was a hand operated pump at the sink. Just like some RV's have now.
Uh, oh. Showing my age.

Re: 1985 6.9 turbodiesel homebuild!

wow...all freakin day to get some nusance things done...

didnt care for the 6x9 speaker location and not sure what to do with my 10in subs...

so I moved the 6x9 by the sliding door...put the 2 subs in the box (one mounted flush the other not...)...bass ports...

got the last 2 white LED's installed and wired...ones on the back section to illuminate the floor and inside the metal storage lockers...the other is INSIDE the couch base and does an EXCELENT job of giving me light inside the box to find whatever I may need...

discoverd that 2 55gal wvo drums will fit nicely on the non-carpeted area between the seat and the shelves...

got 2 more 12vt fans installed...and the powerline to feed the rear power outlet that will be by the fridge/couch...

got the shelves painted and all secured...got the speakers wired..got the fans wired...

and smoked a corn beef brisket..and 4 chicken quarters..played with the dogs and the family...even did some laundry...

im tired...:eek2:

OH...and discovered our 6ft plastic table fits NICELY in the van if we ever want to take it with us!!
