Thanks, I have used your builds for inspiration for sure. I have not been without a van thankfully, they have been lifted or 2wd. My daily driver is great Van but not such a good candidate for 4wd with the RSC and the weak 4r75 trans. And the fact I use it everyday and down time would cost me....
So I found one I felt was build worthy.
I have to say to those that are building their own van save yourself a lot headache when converting to 4wd and go with the tried and tested ujoint conversion. In fact I believe I will eventually go that route. I just had to say I tried it. Not that there is anything wrong with the coil spring conversion they are very temperamental to the death wobble. And it seems to come about when your the furthest from home... Just my 2cents.

Time for a roof rack, I like the low profile, so it basically sits right on the roof. The roof was coated with tintable raptor bed liner.

After adding the black bumpers there was too much definition between the painted grill and bumper. There needed to be more bumper, I wasn't ready to build a full on bumper yet so a simple brush guard was in order. There are some on the market but I wanted simple. There will be flush mounted led's added when they arrive.

I opted for the non traditional aluminess style of ladder, basically because the first step up is a little precarious when trying to load something. It drops a little lower and easier to climb up and down.

Oh hell yes---me too!

Working with tubing seems to me one of the more challenging parts of fabrication and welding.

Impressive roof rack and bumper push bar too.

very nice work! That is the best color. Was looking for a van to paint, but found our second choice in good shape. Are those OE running boards?

What kind of MPG is the 6.8 pulling out?

Looks great! Are you powder coating the roof rack and brush bar, or using auto paint or rattlecan?

Hi! ive Read through this post several times and believe you mentioned building a support frame that you welded around the hole. Do you by any chance have photos or info on that? Another person did a similar diy pop top and used angle iron. I am currently building out an 04 gmc savana and want to do this. I think my greatest challenge (living in the mountains of Idaho) will be to find a pop top so I’m just going forward with my build. Do you see this as a problem? That everything will be built out including walls (leaving the ceiling bare) before doing the roof? I wish I could come out and hire you to do it for me! 😂
