Very nicely done!
We used Baltic Birch 1/2 inch panels and covered with Wilson Art Laminate, color was "Wallaby" 4ft x 8ft sheets ordered from Home Depot. Counter top also from Home Depot, Acacia Wood butcher block. Framing of cabinets was 8030 extruded aluminum from Misumi USA.

Beautiful update and outstanding craftsmanship!
I’m not looking to do such an involved upgrade to my RB-50 but you have inspired me to get off my butt and replace my countertop.
Also, did you have the fold-down bed reupholstered? I’m trying to figure out how to revive mine as it’s getting pretty worn upholstery and spring wise.
Thanks for sharing.

We have been lucky so far with the original upholstery on the bed and cabin seats. Eventually as necessary we would have a professional redo the seat and bed upholstery. We did replace many other vinyl and cloth bits during the rebuild. A few photos included. New window frames, pop top spring covers, cab headliner and storage, all the doors got recovered, and misc moldings. A few areas become a custom design, but we used many of the Sportsmobile designed items and simply duplicated.

Looks perfect. Glad your upholstery is holding up.

Bravo!

Could you post some close up pic of the framing, inside and wood to frame interface.

Here are some photo's from the build. Lots to explain, but maybe a photo is worth a 1,000 words. I will respond to specific questions if you have any.

So was the wood frame a template for the 8020 that you ended up using?

Very nice, planing on a do over next year and debating between the new to me 8020 Alum v/s the known to me cabinet 1” x 2”, pockets screws and bamboo tops.

Was the Alum easier? What would you guesstimate the total cost of the Alum extrusions and connectors

Again, very nice skills !

Yes, we did a complete mock up with Home Depot DF 2x2 wood. I ripped each on a table saw to be 30mm x 30 mm so it would match the 3030 aluminum extrusion. Wood was cheap and experimental, the 3030 expensive and not as easy to use for mock up.
