Re: 2013 E350 New Build

Walls vs floors----I followed much your same process but anticipating I'd be changing my floor covering long before the walls they went up first. Then again I used a heavy duty commercial carpeting pre-cut into squares. Not only was it new and free it allows me to replace just one spot at a time if necessary.

For the most part once the walls are up they don't need removed so keep that in mind.

Re: 2013 E350 New Build

I cut templates for the drivers side and then cut the plywood panels.

I left about an 1/8" gap between the two sheets and around the edges so after I wrap the finish around the edges to the back, it should still fit.

Just in time. The Naugahyde showed up today that I will use on the walls and ceiling.

This picture looks more like the true color of it.

Awesome work! I'm guessing everyone else already knows why... But what's the deisel tank for? Just water heater? Furnace? Just didn't want to deal with propane? Just a camp stove for cooking?

Re: 2013 E350 New Build

I got the new radio installed and the dash put back together. That kicked my butt. The radio, back-up camera, and everything in the dash works.
Glued the Naugahyde onto the two panels for the drivers side and installed for a test fit. I have to take them back off and glue some foil backed radiant barrier onto the backs of the panels and put them back in.

First panel installed.

Second panel in.

I'm pretty happy with the seam.

Re: 2013 E350 New Build

I decided that these were going to be too high for the bed if I installed them above the wheel well so I scribed and cut the backs of the boxes so they will sit on the floor.

I think I will like it a lot better like this.

Thanks for the compliment, Manitou. I am installing a Webasto furnace and water heater. They take up way less room and are more efficient than propane. Yes, just a small portable camp stove and BBQ for cooking.

Re: 2013 E350 New Build

Those dash boards and fitting things into them can sap a guy's energy quickly!

Your Naugahyde seams look good---nice fit there. Will you use some sort of screw head finish washers under them or perhaps those upholstery buttons?

On your side barn door and fitting the floor there: My van is only for work/cargo and it was an advantage to extend the plywood floor over the side foot well. I did have to carefully measure to allow the doors to close properly since I'd added plywood/FRP door trim panels. This gives me a bit more space inside and since I have self-fabricated running boards entry/exit isn't an issue at all. Something to think about.

I've also modified both side doors to accommodate small storage spaces. Not a lot but it does allow storing seldom-used but important tools close at hand and securely stowed.

Good call on fitting the side boxes----your mock up didn't account for the window height but otherwise it looks to be fitting together much as you'd planned.

Nice progress!
