Wow, great progress. I'm curious why you would need to warm up the motor for an hour though? It likely has a block heater you could plug in to preheat.

Thirty minutes may be sufficient but I haven’t tested the theory yet. If I drive it before it’s warm it sputters.

Finally making progress on v2 of my light box. I hope to have it permanently installed by the weekend with 3M 5200.

Light box from Larry arrived a day earlier than expected and I started the install. I hope to finish today or tomorrow.

We don't love them holes:

Temporarily installed to drill all the holes:

Got another coat of FlexSeal on the roof and hit the lightbox side. It looks much more at home with everything the same color.

Also picked up the other light boxes, cleaned with denatured alcohol, and applied a coat of self-etching primer:

Nice work closing off the lights original to the ambulance side of things---neat & tidy now.

And yes we want photos---we love seeing someone else's work and creativity in action.

Thanks! It's taken multiple iterations to get there but it was worth it.

Ok, cool haha. My default is to show everything to help people understand the process. Pictures and commentary shortly...

Parts from SendCutSend:

Fitting up for welding:

Everything tacked up from VK:

Using my roof rack as a painting rack (lol) to apply a couple of coats of self-etching primer:

Sealed with 3M 5200 before our mountain trip, so it had time to cure fully:

Masked and painted the recessed parts with black FlexSeal paint:

Rolled on two coats of Kilz:

Wowers on SendCutSend----amazing outfit I must say for us common folk not yet possessing a laser cutter or CNC type machine.

So then the prying question becomes how much? As in how much did your cut parts cost all together landed to you?

Agree. A lot of it is in understanding how they operate and designing parts to keep cost manageable, which is where having VK on board made things a ton easier.

$335 for all 5 shipped; that's 4 side boxes and the rear with a backing flange for each

Not bad all things considered
