There's definitely a possibility that it would drop, even more if I add things on that hinged shelf, I bought a box of those latches and I was considering adding one on the other side if I needed.

But if I need something stronger, those 10 pounds latches would definitely do the job, thanks!

They are made in 3 'weights' and I recommend the strongest you can get for any cabinet in a van or RV. These are the strongest. They come in 3, 5 and 10#.
