You don't have a house battery? Installing a isolator and AGM is pretty simple . Go to my profile, click on my website and you will see, even a caveman can do it.

Re: Accrete's 2010 Chevy Express AWD project

I'm in the process of writing a trip report over at my adventure blog at the fiberglassrv forum... here is a picture i took on our recent trip to Mt.Rainier National Park in Washington state during the third week in July 2013. It was a fun trip!

Cheers,
Thom

Re: Accrete's 2010 Chevy Express AWD project

I ordered the2" lift kit from Boulder Offroad for the van today : )

It will be installed locally by an off road shop as i have no access to shop/tools these days since we are full time RV'ers.

Sometime this month we will also order up a nerf/bull bar for placement of a couple of fog lamps that would really come in handy.

From their website with the original 3" lift (now 2" in catalog) and bull bar:

Re: Accrete's 2010 Chevy Express AWD project

UPDATE... Cari & I just picked up the van from our friend's shop where he installed the lift kit. . . it worked out to be a measured +2.5" difference.

WOWZER, silly what such a small change can do for looks of a rig. Now it looks like we really could take it off road (even though we have since fall of 2010).

Next week the Rhino Liner and i'll post some new pics.

Re: Accrete's 2010 Chevy Express AWD project

Greetings, Yes pics will be up next week after we rhino line. Today i'm bondoing the ~50 or so 1/8" screw holes that i drilled and used to attach the now-removed Pacer fender flares. The area we are rhino lining is the same as what is seen in this Chevy...around the wheel wells and the lower rocker panel areas plus both bumper's metal.

Most likely we will not reinstall any fender flares.

Also as a followup on drive-ability. The ride according to my wife (her DD) is much smoother. We went out last night and put on about 30 miles on various roadway and i do agree. The ride feels more firm yet smoother over bumps. Don't know why or how, but that is our sense. and we like it! That and looking down on nearly every truck is kinda cool

Cheers,
Thom

Re: Accrete's 2010 Chevy Express AWD project

So why are you removing the fender flares? I thought you were very pleased with how they kept the sides of the Van clean of tire/road debris?
I like your idea of Rhino-lining the lower rockers, fenders and bumpers. I'm actually planning on Line-X'ing my whole Van. I already have the inside Line-X'ed and now plan on doing the entire exterior. You are able to pick whatever colors you want so you are not limited to Black. I think it will help improve the durability of the Van when exposed to trails and just general road debris.

Looking forward to your results.

Re: Accrete's 2010 Chevy Express AWD project

: )
On the fender flares...

Yes we were happy with their ability to keep the _stuff_ off the side of van. Though with the wells/trim/rockers lined i think the flares might be a tad bit unnecessary. And the two van's i've seen online-pix of the contrast between the lining (flat/dull finish) and rather shinny flare finish was not really the look we were after. We won't rule out the possibility of re-purchasing the flares if there is a buildup of road grime.

The look now is quite off-road-ish and you can tell it is no longer stock! The flares were still on after we came home from the local shop and having them off really opens up the wells and screams take me off the asphalt.

That said, IF this was a Ford, i believe i would have the bolt on flares as seen on so many of them... one down side of the chevy van... very little in way of aftermarket bling.
