Re: AmbuLand Build Thread, ( 2001 E350 ambulance )

Hi from what kind of car did you get those seats ?

It's not complete but this is basically how I've planned the interior. It's only the rear portion... In front of the dinette passenger's side is the fridge. Behind driver's seat is the electrical panel with drop down table to be used by my kids while sitting in the two small seats behind the front swivel driver/passenger seats. These are the seats in question:

Seems like I can only attach 3 pictures by post? Go figure, I'll post couple more further down the thread.

Even managed to put some of the overhead cabinets on the driver side wall. (They will be found on each walls)...

Not sure it all makes sense but feel free to comment on the layout.

Cheers
Mr. D

Sorry, I'm not too sure. I bought them new from a local auction for $12 each! They are leather, slide back and forth, fold down flat and have the integrated seatbelt. I'd say they are probably a 3rd row seat from a larger American SUV?

Cheers

Re: AmbuLand Build Thread, ( 2001 E350 ambulance )

Haven't updated my thread for a while. Time for some news!

After cleaning the front floor and painting them with Por-15 I wrapped it in Fatmax. I removed the old soundproofing, cleaned the vinyl flooring and installed a closed cell foam.

This is the foam i used to replace the old soundproofing carpet.

I put that foam all across the floor up to the edge of the doghouse which makes it nice and tight, quieter...

Next I built new bases to mount these cool seats.
Those bases double as stealth safe compartments.

Primed them and glued rubber tiles matching my rear floor. Mounted the seat sliders and added some tiedown.

Both seat swivel and have crazy amount of travel. This will be appreciated by the passenger!

Next was to build a new aluminum diesel tank. This is gonna be my small tank, 32G. Since its aluminum I also built a stainless skid plate for it.

Still need to build the attachments for it and hook it all up, that's my next project...

Re: AmbuLand Build Thread, ( 2001 E350 ambulance )

Thanks!

They turned out to be way more work than anticipated but I'm happy with the result

Just need to get out of holiday mood and get that tank mounted. I'm really looking forward to start building the interior cabinets but I'm trying to do all the boring stuff first (well, maybe not boring but hidden away...)

Cheers
Mr. D

Wow, last update over a year and a half, crazy! But I have a few good excuses, don't we all!?!

Anyway, let's jump into it and post some way overdue updates. After having this ambo parked for almost two years I was ready to play with it again. I decided to make it my daily driver to keep the motivation up, and it worked! First I had to replace both alternators and my vacuum pump to make it road worthy.

Then I installed a rear and a side ARB awnings (bolted right against the body), replaced the useless painted emergency lights with aluminum trims and installed a backup camera. I'll mount some backup light on those as well...

Started on the outside shower. Still need to work on the interior plumbing though.

Also started building with my way smarter than I neighbour on a Bluetooth controlled switch panel. That little stick-on panel can replace about 2' long worth or regular switches, all relay controlled. The plan is to control most of my components via the pad or my phone.

And bought myself a kool t-shirt

Cheers
David

Here's the backup camera in place, next to come are the backup lights...

Some interior insulation. I've never used this material before. It's for car application and is used in Australia to help with heat and sound. Similar to what you can find locally but the inside is quite more dense. I did the cab ceiling and the doors plus traced all windows to use as "curtains".

Got both front and rear bumpers done, changes the whole look! Rear is all custom and made to tuck the hitch right up for clearance. Both are steel. The front one is from a F350 that I've slightly modified to fit. Overall is almost a perfect fit but had to build new mounts and made the bush guard out of schedule 40.

Almost forgot one very needed upgrade, LED Headlights from Rigid Industry. Love them!

I also mounted my Warn 12k lbs and some 7" HID I had laying around. All wired up and ready to pull!!!

More coming!
David

Here's the back bumper as I was building it. It might be overkill but it won't fall apart any time soon!

À bit out of order but this was the start of the front mounts. I since added 3x6 tubes to reinforce the mounts...

Here's another project coming up. Those side lights were painted over when the ambo got decommissioned so they have to go!

That's the big hole under the useless light...

Cheers!
