Do you know how to use Google to search a site? Google "site:sportsmobileforum.com tankless water heater" for example and a number of threads return.
Thanks Thats actually what I just figured out searching for propane threads... Much easier..
Cheers

Re: Appliance questions.

We have the Propex HS2000 and it is sorta marginal for output with our 24" high top. If you have a penthouse and do cold weather I would recommend the HS2800.

The best propane tank and access door I found was from Sportsmobile. They have two sizes - both 10" diameter with one longer than the other. There isn't as much room under the van on the passenger side due to the step for the side door. The 10" diameter tank would hang down quite a ways on the passenger side. There are 6" diameter tanks available (used for Westy's) that would fit better there, but they are smaller.

For the 10" tanks mounted on the driver side, since the tank is mounted higher the valves need to be lower. The SMB tank has the mounting brackets on the ends, which will make it easier to mount than the top brackets.

The SMB access door works very well:

Although it needs to be painted to match

OBTW we got the 8 gallon propane tank and it will run our furnace and frig for less than a week in cold weather. In the summer it will run the frig alone for over a week.

Re: Appliance questions.

I just had the smaller SMB tank mounted behind the rear axle tucked up along the frame. I did have them mount a skid plate on it but it will probably just help keep mud off it. You can just barely see the gauge and valve but it's low enough to fill pretty easily. I'd say the skid plate sits about 3 or 4 inches above the XL storage so I doubt I'll damage it any more than all the other stuff that hangs down. Also I'm not worried about it being in the rear any more than where they normally mount them.

Re: Appliance questions.

OK here ya go. The night shots do light it up a bit. I do plan to do some black paint work. Maybe undercoating.

Re: Appliance questions.

Dave,

It is time for a serious mudflap before you wear holes through your new tank. Ok, maybe not a hole, but rocks bounce around like you can't believe and the gauge is in danger along with the paint. And I could see the entire area filled with mud from one trip down a trail.

Can you fab up doors to close off the filler/gauge area?

Mike
