Re: Back up lights

I too look forward to seeing photos of the area lit up by these lights, maybe as viewed from the drivers seat & through the mirrors? Looks like a nice installation though---smart idea on the 3-way switch too!

Here in Ohio and I think its somewhat federally codified any illuminated light viewable from behind must be red, no exceptions, side markers must be yellow. Technically, IF back up lights this powerful were "accidentally" tripped on while on a street/highway it might be citation-worthy to the right patrol authority.

However I've had those azzhats with million watt headlights crowd my mirrors---they seem to be clueless. Tapping the brakes or slowing down a bit usually causes them to pass which solves the problem.

Re: Back up lights

Man I enjoy trips to the junkyard!

I cruised around a pick and pull type place this morning. They had 4 vans of the same vintage as mine in different stages of dismemberment. I was able to trace the black and pink back up wire from the backup light bulb holder all the way to the steering column. Didn't even have to unscrew a single screw. I did have to cut into a few wiring harnesses but since they were junkers I wasn't to picky on how I cut wires. I didn't end up buying anything but I did bring back a short piece of wiring harness and one connecter plug to help me identify the location under my dash. This will make the wiring job for the back up lights a lot easier.
