Re: Betty White!! Added the Pop Top

How does that hold up in the wind? It can't be that easy.

It is that easy.

While camping in death valley 2 months ago at Tea Kettle Junction the wind kicked up to about 15mph it was fine hitting me from the rear. I did lower it just in case it picked up more during the night.

Of course it looks a lot better now but this was how I got the idea. I was using the 2x4s to hold it up while I tried to get the VW scissor lifts to work right.

Then I noticed that I was trying to use something that was never going to work as good as the 2x4s I was using.

On the first van I built, the factory lift never quite lifted it enough and the canvas wasn't tight. Not to mention that getting the front and the rear VW lift's to work together when lowered on the roof of a Ford or Chevy was next to impossible.

Re: Betty White!! Added the Pop Top

Have you ever taken the measurements of the actual fiberglass top itself? Want to know the overall length and width of the shell structure if you have it available

Thanks

Re: Betty White!! Added the Pop Top

Chevy Astro 4x4, the 4'8" wide would just work, however its about 9'2" at the center tapering back to 9' at both front corners, is there enough lid in front of the tent area to shorten the assembly to fit?
