Chassis Propane tank & Factory Rear A/C /Heat

I have the Ford Factory rear HVAC in my van and am considering going with propane for heat and hot water (after much deliberation). Is it possible to mount a tank in the normal SMB spot on the driver's side with the HVAC lines running through there?

Garage
will depend on the tank. theres just barely not enough room for my 7g tank, but theres been people post links to other sized tanks in posts here that will fit with all the extra plumbing. just gotta get creative with the search function. i believe you need to use the westy term in the search. ill see if i can find one or two.

heres one that was posted prior: http://www.gowesty.com/tech-article-details.php?id=62

Hmmmmm, what swayed the decision to propane vs Espar, at least for heat?

Thanks for the links!

I've been leaning towards propane mainly because of the hot water portion. I can't find a good and simple hot water option using a heat exchanger or a complex hydronic system. I'd really rather not have to run the van to shower in regards to the heat exchanger. I know..first world problems for sure.
My 04 had propane and I never once had any problem from sea level to 12k ft.

Boywonder installed an 8" diameter Go Westy tank on the passenger side, http://www.sportsmobileforum.com/for...p-10808-5.html. Look at post #189 and 237. Am looking at installing one on the drivers side. It appears that the tank will clear the refrigerant and heater lines but the skid plate and valving will not. They will hang below the body by about three inches. I saw a van with this setup at last years NWOR.

Am planning on building a mockup to see if it will fit.

The 8" go westy tanks would be a really tight squeeze on the driver's side with rear heat/air.....really tight......

I used a dinner plate for a crude fit check.

...that's why mine ended up on the passenger side.

The 3 gallon go westy VW van one would fit Comfortably.
