Fork hit it on the head. They've raised prices about 50% since I last looked. (Which, incidentally, is more than a 50% premium over a Sportsmobile top.)

"About $9,000 with bed and power" -- sportsmobile PH web page
CCV is about $9200 with bed and power and paint match.
CCV offers an "arctic" canvas kit (not an option from SMB) for an addition $900.
(source: my current invoice)
I didn't take price of the top as a significant factor in my decision,

CCV website now says $12,800, includes options mentioned above.

^ This. https://www.coloradocampervan.com/the-pop-top
I can't tell if the comparison is apples-to-apples because the SMB at $9K is power; while that CCV link only says "full remote functionality."
Does anyone know if the $12,800 includes power or if it's an upcharge?
Not that I have a horse in this race. I'm waiting to see what MG comes up with. If it's as clean, well thought out and functional as the rest of his work, I'm in.

When I ordered my top there wasn't a non power option.
He used a winch remote on my setup, which I'm sure would work the same with a smb top.

Ok so a $3,800 premium. 42%.
I guess in the end it comes down to whether the wider bed, insulation, vent fan, dual capacity battery, Yakima tracks and USB port are worth $3,800 plus a poor communication kicker for you.

Not saying it changes your percentages, but dont forget bigger windows, more ceiling, height and the storage space above the front seats.
Space in a van is at a premium. All the wasted space above front seats is one of the main reasons I went ccv. Yes customer service was lacking, but end product was what I was after. Not customer service. Been using our top for 3+ years. Still happy with my decision.

Since CCV is struggling to meet the demand I think it would be a wise move for him to think about licensing a shop on each coast to install his product. it would take some of the pressure off, still provide him with some of the profit, and likely get him a substantial increase in customers who do not want to make the road trip out for installation.
Just a thought.

This is what Cardiff campervan in Cali does, install CCV tops and does CCV build outs. He's a one man production team so volume isn't much and doesn't really net CCV much...

Over 12K now? That's insane. I paid half that for my CCV top only a few years ago. If you take a bone stock Ford van, from practically any year, subtracting the insane worth of 7.3's nowadays, there is hardly one out there that is worth the price of this top.
