Cool free parts catalog

I was down at West Marine the other day and had an interesting conversation with one of the salesman. He told me West Marine would price match other stores and then told me about Defender.com. He said to get a Defender.com catalog and then come back armed with the catalog and they would price match any in stock item with the catalog price. I ordered the free catalog and just got it in the mail. WOW.....they have a lot of boating stuff that would work great in a SMB or "Dirt Bag Ground up Home Build".

You can order a free catalog at this site. Look for the Free Catalog button at the top of the website page.

http://www.defender.com/

I was impressed with a few things like the diesel heaters and all the marine specific plumbing and wiring.

Great idea. West Marine has a pretty incredible returns policy (not quite Costco IIRC but close). Price matching and great returns is a tough combo to beat. They'll match pretty much any current internet price, BTW.

Whatever you do DO NOT look at page 284 and see the methonal cartridge Marine Fuel Cells! Or page 130 and see the Dickinson propane fireplace/heater!

Re: Cool free parts catalog

West Marine and the boat community in general has some great clean solutions for some of our electrical and wiring needs. That is where I got some of my parts. A bit more expensive than just buying some toggle switches at the auto parts store, but who's tracking their costs anyway?

Each one of those switches in the 12V panel is actually a 15A circuit breaker too. They have some super cool stuff!

Re: Cool free parts catalog

For me West Marine has always been in my scope of places to buy things because until the last few years I have always had boats, that and I have an addiction to stainless steel fasteners.

Luckily for me (but not my wallet) I have always had one with in a few miles from my home or work. I will say that these days I sometimes if I have time, cheat (or is that get cheap) and go to look at stuff in person at west or other places and them order it from Amazon. Since we have a Amazon Prime account and we get free shipping (even our ARB fridge Freezer), no taxes (we are at 9.25% in my county, ouch) and I always get things in one or two days its hard to resist.

Here are two pictures that include items that I have installed from marine companies.

Auxiliary Fuse Panel, battery terminals and covers, fuses, circuit breakers and more.

Re: Cool free parts catalog

I have stripped my interior all the way out... ordered one of these handy devices to upgrade. Should have marine applications, also. Heck if you set just right, at a slow trawl, you won't have to wipe.

Be sure you read the product description and watch the video

Re: Cool free parts catalog

You need to be very careful with one of those...

Since it is camouflaged it might be hard to find and sit down on and you could get hurt with your pants down...

think Life Alert ads "I have fallen and cant get up" with one of these Off Road Commodes that could be very bad...

The good thing, it is comfortable and luxurious and it hold 500 pounds for your big camping buddies...

But not for use while vehicle is in motion, what ever that means...

The best line is the "can get slippery when wet" now there's an image...

Here is a different brand with an equally cleaver name...
Its white so you can see it to sit down on...
It also holds 500 pounds but this one has pictures...
